ACL Surgery
in Dubai
The anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) is one of the key stabilising structures of the knee. A complete tear — common in pivoting sports such as football, basketball, and skiing — typically causes instability, swelling, and an inability to return to sport without surgical reconstruction.
About ACL Reconstruction
ACL reconstruction replaces the torn ligament with a tendon graft — most commonly the hamstring or patellar tendon — fixed inside bone tunnels drilled at the anatomical attachment points of the original ligament. The procedure is performed entirely arthroscopically (keyhole), meaning no large incisions and a faster recovery compared to open surgery.
Dr. Haidar trained in sports and lower-limb surgery at the Centre Santy–FIFA Medical Center in Lyon, France, and performs ACL reconstruction as a day-case procedure at Emirates Hospital in Motor City and Jumeirah.
The first consultation focuses on understanding your injury, your activity goals, and whether surgery is genuinely the right choice for you. Many patients with partial tears or low activity demands can be managed non-operatively with a structured rehabilitation programme.
Recovery & Rehabilitation
Rehabilitation after ACL reconstruction is as important as the surgery itself. Dr. Haidar provides each patient with a structured, milestone-based rehabilitation plan coordinated with a physiotherapist. The programme progresses from early range-of-motion and quadriceps activation, through strength and proprioception work, to sport-specific training and return-to-play testing.
